"God is let down that I'm not more spiritual or mature by now."
How it sounds in your head: You should be leading Bible studies, mentoring younger women, having deep prayer life by now. Instead you're still struggling with basics. God expected you to be an oak by now, but you're still a sapling.
"But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord."
-- 2 Corinthians 3:18Source: Religious hierarchies of spiritual maturity creating comparison ladders and denying that righteousness is gift, not achievement level unlocked.
Younger women ask her for wisdom she doesn't feel she has, and she compares her internal chaos to others' external composure. Decades of church attendance 'should' have produced someone more together, more wise, more spiritually impressive than she feels.
John, after 60+ years of walking with Jesus, didn't write about how spiritually mature he'd become—he wrote 'Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us.' The oldest apostle's final message was still marveling at RECEIVING love, not achieving maturity.
I REFUSE the lie that God grades me on spiritual maturity levels or compares me to anyone else's journey. IT IS WRITTEN that I am being transformed from glory to glory BY THE SPIRIT—this is His work, not my achievement. My standing before God is GIFT righteousness, not earned spiritual rank. IT IS WRITTEN that I am complete in Him who is the head of all principality and power. I don't need more years to qualify for His delight. The BARAK blessing wasn't based on Abraham's spiritual maturity—he was a liar—but on covenant. I stand in better covenant, and my Father's pleasure in me is not performance-based.
Your Father isn't disappointed that you're not 'further along'—He's delighted that you're still looking at Him, still turning toward Him, because transformation happens through gazing at His face, not climbing spiritual ladders. You're already complete in Him; the rest is just Him revealing what's already true.
