"God cares about 'real families' more than He cares about mine."
How it sounds in your head: Church talks about 'biblical families' with a mom and dad. We don't look like that anymore. When they pray for families, I wonder if they mean families like mine or just the normal ones.
"Then Peter opened his mouth and said: 'In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.'"
-- Acts 10:34Religious hierarchy creating first-class and second-class families in direct opposition to gospel.
Church language often centers intact nuclear families as the ideal, making alternative structures feel like Plan B. He interprets emphasis on traditional family as exclusion of his family.
Hagar was a single mother, cast out, not in the 'covenant family' structure, dying in the wilderness with her son. God heard the boy's cry, appeared to her, and promised to make her son into a great nation—He didn't require a traditional family structure to pour out blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that God values 'real families' more than mine. IT IS WRITTEN that God shows NO PARTIALITY—He doesn't have favorites based on family structure. My family is FULLY loved, FULLY included, FULLY blessed by God. Jesus was raised in a non-traditional family too. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in the city and in the field—the BARAK blessing doesn't require a perfect structure. God sees my family with complete love, full acceptance, and plans for abundant blessing. We are not Plan B. We are HIS.
Your Father is opening His arms wide RIGHT NOW, saying 'Come here, ALL of you—every configuration, every broken piece, every non-traditional structure—you ALL belong at My table, and I love YOUR family with the same fierce, unchanging, lavish love I have for every family I've created.'
