"God allowed this sickness to slow me down because I was too busy and prideful."
How it sounds in your head: I was running everywhere—kids' activities, church committees, career demands. Never still, never resting. Maybe God had to stop me this way because I wouldn't listen. The sermon last month said He uses trials to humble us. This must be His 'no.'
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
-- James 1:17Religion making God the author of disease, turning the Father into a divine trip-wirer who breaks His children to teach them.
She WAS overwhelmed before the diagnosis. She DID ignore her body's signals. Pastors and books have taught her entire adult life that God uses sickness to teach lessons. The timing feels too coincidental—burnout followed by breakdown feels like divine cause and effect.
Disciples asked Jesus, 'Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?'—assuming sickness was divine punishment or lesson. Jesus said 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him,' then healed him instantly. The sickness wasn't FROM God; the healing was.
I REFUSE the lie that my Father gave me disease to teach me to rest. IT IS WRITTEN that every good and perfect gift comes from Him, and sickness is not good. The thief came to kill me, not slow me down—Jesus came to give me ABUNDANT LIFE. When disciples blamed blindness on sin, Jesus said neither and HEALED him. IT IS WRITTEN that God is not a man that He should lie—and He said by His stripes I WAS healed, not 'by His stripes I'll eventually learn a lesson.' The BARAK blessing that protected Jacob even when he RAN from Esau protects me in my busy seasons. I receive the healing Jesus purchased, not the lesson religion assigned.
Your Father is not in heaven thinking 'finally, she stopped—mission accomplished.' He's weeping with you that the enemy attacked your body, furious at the thief, ready to demonstrate that He came to HEAL, not harm—that every sermon that made Him the author of your suffering lied about His nature completely.
