"God allowed this betrayal to teach me not to trust people - I need to learn to rely only on Him."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this was God's way of showing me that people always fail and only He is trustworthy. Perhaps I was too dependent on that relationship and God had to remove it. I should have seen this coming - God was probably trying to teach me self-sufficiency.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Religion's toxic teaching that God authors pain to create spiritual lessons and that isolation equals holiness.
Church culture often spiritualizes isolation as 'dependence on God alone,' making betrayal feel like divine curriculum rather than enemy attack.
Job's friends said his suffering was divine discipline and he needed to learn lessons. God was ANGRY at them for misrepresenting Him, called their words 'folly,' and required Job (the suffering one) to pray FOR them before Job's own restoration came - God vindicated the wounded, not the religious explainers.
I REFUSE the lie that God authored my betrayal as a lesson. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy - but Jesus came to give ABUNDANT LIFE. My Father doesn't destroy relationships to teach me theology. IT IS WRITTEN that I am created in the image of the Trinity - COMMUNITY, not isolation. The BARAK blessing includes being surrounded by covenant relationships that HONOR me. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and I am DESIGNED for connection. The Father is restoring trustworthy relationships to me RIGHT NOW, not teaching me to live without them.
The Father didn't rip that person away to make you holy. He's GRIEVING with you over what the enemy stole. Like the Prodigal's Father, He's not creating lessons from your pain - He's running toward you WITH provision for your healing. Community is Heaven's design. You're not being trained for isolation; you're being prepared for RESTORATION.
