"Building walls around my heart is the only way to protect myself from being destroyed again."
How it sounds in your head: The pain almost killed you last time. The vulnerability crushed you. You swore never again. These walls aren't prison—they're castle fortifications. Let them think you're cold. Better cold than shattered.
"The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."
-- Psalm 18:2Trauma response the enemy has weaponized into permanent isolation, masquerading self-protection as wisdom when it's actually slow death.
The walls genuinely reduced immediate pain and gave him breathing room to survive. They feel like life-saving wisdom, not the slow suffocation they actually are.
After Jezebel's threat, Elijah isolated in a cave, wanting to die, convinced he alone remained faithful and walls were necessary for survival. God immediately sent an angel with food, spoke in a still small voice, and revealed 7,000 others who hadn't bowed—proving isolation was unnecessary and partnership was God's actual plan for his protection and continued ministry.
I REFUSE the lie that walls protect me better than the Father does. IT IS WRITTEN that the LORD is my fortress, my deliverer, my shield, my stronghold—HE is my protection, not isolation. The Father is RIGHT NOW dismantling walls that became prisons and replacing them with HIS supernatural discernment that protects without isolating. I am ABRAHAM'S SEED under the BARAK blessing—the same protection that caused terror to fall on surrounding nations protecting Jacob's family even after his sons MURDERED an entire city. IT IS WRITTEN that perfect love casts out fear—His love is making me brave enough to risk again, wise enough to discern who is safe, free enough to live without the walls that were slowly killing me.
The Father sees you behind those walls and He's not demanding you tear them down—He's inviting you OUT to where HE is your defense. He's already prepared relationships so safe, so covenant, so filled with His presence that you won't need walls because His protection surrounds you like a shield.
