"God allowed this betrayal, so He's either punishing me or doesn't care enough to protect me."
How it sounds in your head: You've served Him for years. You've tithed, gone to church, led your family. And He let this happen. He could have stopped it—He's God. So either you did something wrong and this is payback, or He just doesn't care about you the way He cares about others. Either way, you're on your own.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Religious lie about God's nature—making Him author of evil or distant and uncaring, contradicting His revealed character as good Father and active defender.
God IS sovereign, and the betrayal DID happen, so the logical conclusion feels like either punishment or abandonment. The theology you've been taught doesn't leave room for a good God and a devastating betrayal to coexist.
Satan—not God—afflicted Job. God PERMITTED it because He trusted Job and knew the end, but He didn't AUTHOR it. And when it was over, God restored DOUBLE everything Job lost—the enemy's attack became the setup for EXPONENTIAL blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that God caused this betrayal. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy—but Jesus came to give ABUNDANT LIFE. This betrayal is from the enemy, not my Father. I am NOT being punished—I am being positioned for a DOUBLE RESTORATION. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:28 that ALL things work together for good to those who love God—this betrayal is being worked into something GLORIOUS. The BARAK blessing over Abraham meant God defended him even when HE was the liar—how much more am I defended and restored under the better covenant? The Father is turning this around Joseph-style—what was meant for evil is becoming my greatest testimony. God didn't abandon me—He's about to SHOWCASE His goodness through this story.
The Father is weeping with you over the betrayal—it broke His heart too, because He loves you that fiercely. And right now He's whispering, 'Watch what I do with this. I'm about to turn this betrayal into a blessing so big you'll spend the rest of your life telling people about My goodness.'
