"Trusting again after betrayal means you're setting yourself up to be a victim twice."
How it sounds in your head: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. You'd be an IDIOT to lower your guard again. Trusting after betrayal isn't faith—it's stupidity. It's asking to be victimized. Once was tragedy; twice would be your own fault. Don't be that guy.
"Then Peter came to Him and said, 'Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?' Jesus said to him, 'I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.'"
-- Matthew 18:21-22World's wisdom that worships control and mocks faith, directly opposing biblical pattern of covenant loyalty despite human failure.
Cultural sayings and self-help teachings reinforce that repeat trust is pathological naivety. The logic feels airtight because self-protection appears wise.
Peter denied Jesus three times at His greatest need, betraying Him publicly with curses. Days later, Jesus appeared on the beach, cooked breakfast, and restored Peter with three questions of love—no punishment, no probation, just INSTANT restoration to leadership. Jesus trusted the betrayer with the Church, proving trust after betrayal is divine wisdom, not human stupidity.
I REFUSE the lie that trusting again means victim status. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus commands forgiveness seventy times seven—if God trusts humanity after Eden, the flood, the golden calf, and the crucifixion, then trusting again is DIVINE NATURE, not human foolishness. The Father is RIGHT NOW giving me His own heart that risks daily because love is worth it. I am ABRAHAM'S SEED—the covenant that survived Abraham lying, Isaac deceiving, Jacob stealing, Joseph's brothers murdering—trust persisted through betrayal because COVENANT is stronger than failure. IT IS WRITTEN that love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things—I am a man with the Father's own capacity to risk love again, to trust with wisdom, to believe the best while discerning truth.
The Father is whispering: 'I trusted you after YOU betrayed Me with every sin, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat because that's love. Let Me give you My heart that trusts wisely, loves boldly, and risks greatly because the connection is worth infinitely more than the protection.'
