"Expecting financial miracles is immature faith. Mature Christians work and trust God to bless their efforts."
How it sounds in your head: Asking for supernatural provision sounds like lazy Christianity. Real faith works hard and trusts God to multiply effort. Only immature believers want manna from heaven - adults get jobs and manage money wisely. Miracle-expecting is irresponsible.
"Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you."
-- Matthew 17:27Religion wedding Protestant work ethic to faith, making supernatural dependence sound childish while human effort sounds mature and responsible.
Every adult in his life emphasizes work ethic and responsibility. Guys who talk about expecting miracles while unemployed look delusional. His internship and side hustles feel more 'real' than waiting for provision.
Peter needed tax money immediately with no source of income. Jesus didn't say 'go work for it' - He sent him to catch ONE fish, and in its mouth was the exact coin needed for both their taxes. One cast, immediate miracle, perfect provision.
I REFUSE the lie that expecting financial miracles is immature and I should just work harder. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus provided Peter's tax money through a fish with a coin in its mouth - SUPERNATURAL, IMMEDIATE, PRECISE. Miracle provision isn't irresponsibility - it's my INHERITANCE as a covenant son. IT IS WRITTEN that Israel ate miracle bread for 40 years while doing zero farming. I can work AND expect miracles - they're not opposites. The BARAK blessing includes both natural favor and supernatural intervention. My Father isn't waiting for me to outgrow dependence on Him - He's RUNNING toward me with provision that defies human economics because that's how GOOD He is to sons.
Your Father doesn't want you to 'grow out of' dependence on His supernatural provision. He's the God who fed Israel miracle bread for 40 YEARS - not a one-time event for babies, but sustained supernatural provision because that's what FATHERS do for children they love.
