"Everyone else seems naturally confident and put-together. I'm the only one struggling to fake it."
How it sounds in your head: Other girls just wake up confident. They don't have to psych themselves up in the mirror or rehearse conversations. I'm the only one pretending, and it's exhausting. Something's wrong with me that I have to work this hard at being normal.
"Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world."
-- 1 Peter 5:9Enemy isolation tactic making her believe her internal experience is uniquely broken while everyone else is effortlessly fine.
Social media and filtered lives create illusion of effortless perfection in others. Her age makes her hyper-focused on internal experience while only seeing external presentation of peers.
Elijah said 'I ALONE am left' fighting for God, feeling uniquely isolated. God's response: 'I have reserved 7,000 who have not bowed to Baal.' Elijah's perception of being the only one was FALSE—thousands were in the same fight, hidden from his view.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm uniquely struggling while everyone else is fine. IT IS WRITTEN the same struggles are common to all believers—I'm not the broken exception. Like Elijah thought he was alone but 7,000 others were in the same fight, I'm surrounded by others wrestling the same battles behind their smiles. IT IS WRITTEN I am more than a conqueror through Him who loved me (Romans 8:37)—not because I feel confident, but because HE IS FAITHFUL. My confidence is in CHRIST, not in faking it better than everyone else.
The Father sees your internal battle and doesn't compare you to the edited highlight reels of others—He sees the whole truth of everyone's struggle and calls you conqueror anyway. Like Elijah discovered he wasn't alone, you're surrounded by others fighting similar battles, and ALL of your confidence flows from the same source: JESUS.
