"Everyone at church sees me as the girl who fell — I'll never just be normal."
How it sounds in your head: They know my story. They pray 'for me' in that pitying way. I'm the cautionary tale, the broken one. I'll never just be part of the group without the label.
"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
-- Isaiah 43:18-19Religious branding: church culture loves a redemption story but keeps you in 'redeemed addict' category forever.
People do treat you differently. They ask 'how are you doing?' with THAT tone. You're the testimony they trot out, but never the leader they trust.
Had SEVEN demons cast out of her, notorious past. Jesus didn't keep her at arm's length as 'the one we rescued' — she became a primary financial supporter, was first at the tomb, first to see the resurrected Jesus, first evangelist of the resurrection.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm forever labeled by my past. IT IS WRITTEN God says 'do not remember the former things' because He's doing a NEW THING. I am not 'the girl who fell.' I am DAUGHTER, BELOVED, CHOSEN, RIGHTEOUS. IT IS WRITTEN I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Church may whisper, but my Father ROARS over me with singing. I don't walk into rooms as a cautionary tale — I walk as an OVERCOMER, a testimony of resurrection power, covered by the BARAK blessing that flowed to broken people and flows to me through BETTER promises.
The Father doesn't introduce you as 'this is My daughter who used to struggle with addiction.' He says 'This is My BELOVED, in whom I am well pleased' — same words He said over Jesus, because you're IN Him, and He sees no difference.
