"Enjoying nice things makes me worldly and less spiritual than those who live simply."
How it sounds in your head: Look at you with your nice house, your comfortable car. Remember when Jesus said it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle? You're choosing comfort over the cross. Real disciples sacrifice everything.
"Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy."
-- 1 Timothy 6:17Religion created false hierarchy where poverty equals holiness and comfort equals compromise, denying God's actual promises.
You've heard decades of sermons praising missionaries in huts while side-eyeing successful businessmen. The older you get, the more you've accumulated, and the guilt compounds with every upgrade.
Solomon 'exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom,' and God GAVE him both. His palace, his gold, his throne—all from God's hand. The wealth wasn't obstacle to relationship; it was EVIDENCE of God's blessing until Solomon's heart turned to OTHER GODS, not until he had nice things.
I REFUSE the lie that enjoying nice things makes me worldly. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me richly ALL THINGS TO ENJOY—enjoyment isn't worldliness, it's receiving the Father's gifts with thanksgiving. My nice things don't compete with my spirituality; they demonstrate the BARAK blessing that's mine by covenant. IT IS WRITTEN that I'm Abraham's seed, and he was VERY RICH in livestock, silver, and gold while being called God's FRIEND. I enjoy abundance without guilt because my Father delights in the prosperity of His servant.
The Father isn't frowning at your nice things like a disapproving religious critic. He's the one who gave Solomon gold, wisdom, and a throne, and called him BELOVED—your nice things are gifts from a Father who RUNS toward you with the best robe, not the burlap sack of false humility.
