"Enjoying wealth in my final days proves I'm not heavenly-minded."
How it sounds in your head: Shouldn't I be detached from earthly things by now? If I still care about comfort, nice things, and provision, does that mean I'm not spiritual enough? Truly godly people are supposed to be beyond material concerns.
"For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving."
-- 1 Timothy 4:4Source: Religious asceticism that equates spirituality with rejection of physical comfort and wealth.
She's heard Colossians 3:2 weaponized to shame anyone enjoying earthly blessings. Caring about comfort feels like failing the spirituality test before Heaven.
The wisest man who ever lived, after examining everything under the sun, concluded: 'It is a GIFT OF GOD when anyone eats and drinks and finds satisfaction in their toil.' Enjoyment is a GIFT, not a compromise.
I REFUSE the lie that enjoying God's blessings makes me unspiritual. IT IS WRITTEN that EVERY creature of God is GOOD and NOTHING is to be refused if received with THANKSGIVING—not 'nothing matters at your age.' Solomon, the wisest man, said enjoyment is a GIFT OF GOD. IT IS WRITTEN that my Father gives me richly ALL THINGS TO ENJOY—not to reject to prove my spirituality. I am heavenly-minded AND I receive earthly blessings with gratitude. The BARAK blessing covers BOTH spiritual and material abundance. I enjoy EVERY good gift without apology.
Your Father isn't asking you to reject His gifts to prove you love Heaven. He's the one who gives RICHLY ALL THINGS TO ENJOY—and He means it. You can be completely ready for Heaven AND completely grateful for His earthly blessings right now. He delights in BOTH.
