"Enjoying luxury while others suffer shows I don't really care about people."
How it sounds in your head: How can I enjoy a nice meal, vacation, or purchase when I know people are homeless and hungry? It feels tone-deaf. Like I'm Marie Antoinette eating cake while others starve.
"Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy."
-- 1 Timothy 6:17Religious guilt complex that equates enjoyment with lack of compassion.
You genuinely care about suffering and the contrast between your comfort and others' pain creates cognitive dissonance that feels like moral failure. The guilt seems righteous.
Jesus received expensive perfume worth a year's wages poured on His feet while poverty existed all around. When religious people criticized the 'waste,' He defended it, saying she did a beautiful thing. He didn't reject luxury—He received it.
I REFUSE the lie that enjoying blessings means lacking compassion. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me richly ALL things to ENJOY. Jesus received expensive worship while poverty existed. The Father killed the fattened calf for a party while there was worldwide need. My enjoyment doesn't diminish anyone—the BARAK blessing isn't rationed. IT IS WRITTEN I'm blessed to BE a blessing, not guilty to prove I care. I enjoy abundance guilt-free because that's what the Father intended. From my overflow, not my guilt, others are blessed. I receive with joy!
The Father isn't a cosmic killjoy measuring your pleasure against global suffering. He's the father who threw an extravagant party with live music and the best food while the older brother stood outside in religious guilt, and He's inviting you inside to ENJOY the feast because your joy—not your guilt—reflects His nature.
