"Financial blessing would make me proud and ruin my character."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe God is keeping you humble through lack. You know yourself—if you had real money, you'd probably get prideful, forget God, stop depending on Him daily. The financial pressure keeps you on your knees. Abundance would corrupt you.
"Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, 'Let the LORD be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.'"
-- Psalm 35:27Source: Religion's twisted theology that God uses poverty to build character and wealth inevitably corrupts.
You've seen wealthy people who seem disconnected from God, and you know your own heart's capacity for pride. The fear that success would distance you from dependence on God feels like legitimate spiritual caution.
Jabez prayed, 'Oh, that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory!' God granted his request—He didn't rebuke the bold ask or warn about pride. He GAVE the increase because He delights in blessing His children.
I REFUSE the lie that God withholds blessing to protect my character. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant. He trusts His own work in me. IT IS WRITTEN that the love of money is the root of evil, not money itself. The Holy Spirit, not poverty, is my teacher. The BARAK blessing that enriched Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob while protecting their hearts is mine through Christ's superior covenant. I receive abundance knowing God's grace keeps me humble and grateful, not proud.
The Father gave the prodigal the ring and robe BEFORE the character transformation was complete—He trusted the restoration to change the heart, not the poverty. The celebration came first; the growth followed in the Father's presence.
