"Divorce is the only way out. We're just making each other miserable."
How it sounds in your head: Every fight ends worse than the last one. You're both exhausted. The kids can feel the tension. Your mom keeps saying 'life's too short to be this unhappy.' Maybe divorce isn't failure—maybe it's wisdom. Maybe it's actually the loving thing to do. Set each other free.
"For the LORD God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one's garment with violence, says the LORD of hosts. Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously."
-- Malachi 2:16Enemy lie that covenant can be dissolved when inconvenient, that God's design has escape clauses for discomfort.
You're seventeen and watching your parents' miserable marriage, or you're watching friends' parents divorce and everyone seems happier after. The cultural narrative says you deserve happiness, and staying feels like choosing suffering. Even some Christians are saying 'God doesn't want you to be miserable.'
She'd had FIVE husbands and was living with a sixth man—serial covenant-breaking, running from pain to pain, trying to escape. Jesus didn't condemn her or tell her to try husband number seven. He offered living water that would END the cycle of running, gave her identity and purpose, and she became the first evangelist to her entire city. He breaks the divorce cycle with one encounter.
I REFUSE the lie that divorce is my only option. IT IS WRITTEN that God HATES divorce because He loves ME and knows it's violence, not freedom. What feels like an escape is actually a trap. IT IS WRITTEN that with God, ALL things are possible, and that includes resurrecting this marriage from the dead. I am not a statistic—I am a covenant-keeper empowered by a covenant-keeping God. The BARAK blessing means I am blessed in my marriage, blessed in my covenant, blessed in my home, and the enemy's plan to steal, kill, and destroy this union is CANCELLED. The same Jesus who stopped the Samaritan woman's cycle of broken marriages is stopping the cycle in my life. I am staying. I am believing. I am receiving Heaven's invasion into my home. Resurrection is happening NOW.
The Father isn't standing at a distance saying 'try harder to stay married'—He's running into the middle of your mess with miracle-working power, saying 'Watch what I can do with this.' He's not asking you to white-knuckle it; He's asking you to watch Him turn water into wine in your marriage.
