"Desiring wealth means my heart isn't focused on God or eternal things."
How it sounds in your head: I want financial freedom. I want to build wealth. But every time I think about it, I hear: 'You can't serve God and money. Store up treasures in heaven.' So I feel torn—like wanting financial success means I'm choosing the world over God. Like I have to pick.
"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."
-- Deuteronomy 8:18Source: religion. False dichotomy that makes God and provision enemies instead of God being the SOURCE of provision.
Every message about money is a WARNING. Rich young ruler walked away. Camel through the eye of a needle. Love of money is the root of evil. So wanting wealth feels like spiritual treason.
After Job's trial, God restored him. But not just to where he was—'the LORD gave Job TWICE as much as he had before.' God didn't rebuke him for receiving double. God GAVE IT and said, 'This is My restoration.'
I REFUSE the lie that desiring wealth means I don't desire God. IT IS WRITTEN that God GIVES me power to get wealth to establish His covenant. Wealth isn't the opposite of God—it's a TOOL in His hand and mine. I am Abraham's seed, heir to the BARAK blessing that includes financial abundance. IT IS WRITTEN that the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow. I don't serve money—I serve God who SUPPLIES all my need according to HIS riches. Jesus became poor so I could be rich. I am blessed coming in and going out, the head and not the tail. I receive wealth to establish covenant, bless others, and demonstrate that my Father is GOOD. Provision flows from abiding in the Vine.
The Father isn't testing you to see if you'll choose Him over money—He's the One GIVING you the desire for increase so you can steward His abundance. He's not withholding provision to see if you'll love Him anyway. He's RELEASING it because He loves you, period.
