"Creditors calling mean I'm under God's judgment for poor financial decisions."
How it sounds in your head: This is what you deserve. You made bad choices, lived beyond your means, and now you're reaping what you sowed. God is letting you experience consequences to teach you a lesson about money. The phone ringing is His discipline.
"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins."
-- Isaiah 43:25Religious teaching that frames financial hardship as God's judgment or punishment for mismanagement.
She's heard "you reap what you sow" preached as punishment. Every creditor call feels like confirmation that God is angry and teaching her through suffering. Well-meaning Christians have told her God allows this to build character and teach stewardship.
Religious leaders brought a woman caught in actual, active sin (adultery) to Jesus expecting Him to condemn and stone her according to law. Instead, Jesus defended her from her accusers and said "Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more." No punishment, no consequence period, no lecture - just instant grace and freedom, proving God doesn't respond to our failure with judgment.
I REFUSE the lie that creditor calls are God's judgment. IT IS WRITTEN that God BLOTS OUT my transgressions and will NOT REMEMBER my sins. Jesus took ALL punishment at the cross - there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ, including financial condemnation. The woman caught in adultery received NO JUDGMENT from Jesus, only grace and freedom. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD in Christ, not because of my financial management but because of His BLOOD. These calls are spiritual warfare from the enemy, not discipline from my Father. The BARAK blessing protected Abraham even when he LIED - God defended him, not the offended kings. God is FOR me, not against me.
Your Father isn't using creditor calls to teach you lessons. He's the Jesus who defended the adulteress caught in actual sin with "Neither do I condemn you," and He's defending you now. He's not standing with the accusers shaking His head - He's standing BETWEEN you and them, writing their sins in the dirt and sending them away. The calls are the enemy's voice, not His.
