"God is punishing my family financially because of something we did wrong."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this happened because we didn't tithe enough. Or because my parents got divorced. Or because of something I did that I don't even know about. God must be teaching us a lesson.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."
-- Romans 8:1Religion teaching that financial hardship is divine punishment or correction for sin or disobedience.
He's heard sermons connecting blessing to obedience and heard Deuteronomy 28 taught as if Christians are under law. Religious voices around him suggest hardship means God is trying to get their attention or teach them something.
Abraham LIED TWICE about Sarah being his sister to protect himself, showing terrible character and faithlessness. Both times God defended Abraham, plagued the kings who took Sarah, and Abraham left those situations RICHER than before - proving the blessing wasn't based on his behavior but on covenant.
I REFUSE the lie that God is punishing my family financially for sin. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus - not even financial consequences. Jesus took ALL punishment 2,000 years ago. IT IS WRITTEN that God sent Jesus to SAVE not condemn. My Father is not the author of lack - He's the God of abundance running toward us with provision. The blessing of Abraham on my family is by covenant, and that blessing protected even LIARS. Financial hardship is not divine punishment - it's an opportunity for supernatural breakthrough that will prove God's goodness. I declare freedom from religious lies and the manifestation of covenant blessing RIGHT NOW.
Your Father isn't punishing you financially. He's the Father running toward the prodigal who wasted everything, with no lecture, no punishment, just ring, robe, sandals, and party - eager to restore even when you don't deserve it.
