"Church people will judge your past and you'll never escape your reputation there."
How it sounds in your head: They know about your party phase in college, the relationship you had before you got saved, the abortion, the addiction, the bankruptcy. Even though you're different now, there's always a whisper, a knowing look, a prayer request that's really gossip. You're forever labeled by your worst season and you can't outrun the church grapevine.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Source: Religious spirit of judgment weaponized by the enemy to keep you in shame and prevent your testimony from setting others free.
You've experienced it—the 'concerned' questions that are really interrogations, the 'prayer request' that spread your story, the subtle reminder that you're 'doing so much better now' which highlights that you were a mess before. Some people literally cannot see you without seeing your past first.
Paul MURDERED Christians, dragging families from their homes to be executed, and called himself the 'chief of sinners.' God didn't make him do a reputation rehab tour—He INSTANTLY made him an APOSTLE and author of most of the New Testament. From murderer to Church father in one encounter.
I REFUSE the lie that my past disqualifies my future or that church people's judgment is my identity. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a NEW CREATION and old things have PASSED AWAY—not faded, not lingering, but PASSED. God does not have a photographic memory of my sin because the blood of Jesus ERASED it. I will not carry shame for what God has forgotten. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. The Barak blessing is on my PRESENT and FUTURE, not on religious people's scorecards. My testimony will set captives free, and I will NOT silence it to make religious people comfortable.
The Father doesn't introduce you by your past—He introduces you as His BELOVED daughter, completely new, with a name written in heaven that has ZERO connection to who you used to be. He's running toward you with the robe that covers EVERYTHING and the ring that declares 'FAMILY, not felon,' while religious people stand outside the party arguing about fairness.
