"Church people are just judgmental hypocrites who hurt anyone who doesn't fit their mold."
How it sounds in your head: I watched them smile on Sunday then gossip by Wednesday. They preached love but excluded me when I didn't look right, vote right, or parent right. The most wounded I've ever been was inside church walls.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness."
-- Matthew 23:27-28Source: Religious spirit operating through wounded people who ministered law instead of grace, making Jesus' bride look like the Pharisees He rebuked.
You've genuinely been wounded by people who carried God's name but not His heart. The pain is real, the betrayal documented, the scars still tender when you drive past that building.
Religious leaders dragged her to Jesus to stone her, using her sin as a weapon for their agenda. Jesus dismissed every accuser, refused to condemn her, and sent her free while the religious crowd slithered away in shame—instant vindication from hypocrisy.
I REFUSE the lie that all churches are hypocritical and unsafe. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus saw religious hypocrisy and called it out by name—my pain is VALID because He validated it first. The ones who wounded me were operating in law, not grace, in performance, not love. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NOW no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. I am the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit, and He is leading me to LIFE-GIVING community that operates in grace. I carry the BARAK blessing of Abraham—I am blessed coming in and going out, and that includes WHERE I fellowship. I am the Bride Jesus is returning FOR, not the wounded casualty He's given up on.
The Father is running toward you with the robe of righteousness THEY tried to strip from you, and He's throwing a party to celebrate that you survived what religion did to you. He's whispering the names of grace-filled people who will weep when they hear your story and fight to protect your heart, not weaponize your wounds.
