"Religion ruins everything. Jesus was cool but His followers destroyed it all."
How it sounds in your head: I like what Jesus said about love and kindness, but church people twist it into rules and judgment. Religion took something beautiful and made it toxic. I'm spiritual, not religious.
"Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ."
-- Colossians 2:8Source: observing religious systems that prioritized rules over relationship, creating a false divide between Jesus and His body.
He's seen religious people use the Bible as a weapon, create endless rules that Jesus never mentioned, and turn faith into performance. The contrast between Jesus's grace and religious demands is stark.
The Samaritan woman tried to turn the conversation into a religious debate about which mountain to worship on—their tradition versus the Jews' tradition. Jesus immediately cut through it: 'God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth'—relationship over religion, instant breakthrough from religious bondage to authentic connection.
I REFUSE the lie that Jesus is separate from His body. IT IS WRITTEN to beware of man-made traditions but not to forsake His family. Religion is dead rules; relationship is living connection. The BARAK blessing flows through covenant community, not isolated individualism. IT IS WRITTEN that where two or three gather in His name, He's there—that's not religion, that's family. I reject religious bondage but embrace spiritual family. I am free from performance, alive in relationship, and connected to His body.
While you're throwing out religion, the Father is running toward you saying, 'Throw out the dead rules, but keep My living family.' He's not asking you to embrace toxic religion—He's inviting you to experience authentic community where grace flows, not laws that kill.
