"Christians can't have demons, so something is fundamentally broken in my salvation"
How it sounds in your head: They say Christians can't have demons, but I still struggle with dark thoughts and urges. Maybe I'm not really saved. Maybe my conversion wasn't real.
"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord"
-- Romans 8:38-39Source: Religious debate that creates false dichotomy—either perfectly free or not saved at all
He's heard 'Christians can't have demons' but still experiences darkness, so he questions his salvation rather than recognizing the lies. The either/or thinking creates terror about his standing with God.
Jesus told Peter that Satan had demanded to sift him like wheat, yet Jesus had already prayed for him and declared his faith would not fail. Peter's demonic attack didn't mean he wasn't saved—Jesus interceded and guaranteed his restoration before the attack even happened.
I REFUSE the lie that my struggles mean I'm not saved. IT IS WRITTEN: 'NOTHING shall separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus' (Romans 8:39). My salvation is SEALED—not by my perfection but by His blood. IT IS WRITTEN: 'He who has begun a good work in me will complete it' (Philippians 1:6). I am not broken—I am being perfected. Every dark thought is a lie I dismiss, not evidence against my salvation. I am a son, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and the BARAK blessing of Abraham is mine through Christ. God RUNS toward me, not away from me.
Father isn't questioning your salvation because of your struggles. He's running toward you with the robe and ring, declaring: 'You are MINE—nothing changes that.' Your wrestling proves you're alive, not that you're unsaved.
