"Christians are the most judgmental people—I'm safer outside the church than in it."
How it sounds in your head: They smiled on Sunday then gossiped Monday. They judged your divorce, your daughter's choices, your financial struggles. The cruelest words you've heard came from Christians. Why go back to that?
"Behold, at that time I will deal with all who afflict you; I will save the lame, and gather those who were driven out; I will appoint them for praise and fame in every land where they were put to shame."
-- Zephaniah 3:19Enemy uses religious hypocrisy to separate wounded believers from the body, leaving them isolated exactly when they need community most.
She experienced REAL judgment—whispers when her husband left, exclusion when money got tight, coldness when she couldn't keep up appearances. Religious people CAN be cruel, especially to women who don't fit the mold.
Five marriages, living with a man, avoided by 'good' religious women who came to the well at proper times—she came at noon to escape their judgment. One encounter with Jesus and she became the FIRST EVANGELIST to Samaria, bringing the whole city to Him despite her scandalous past.
I REFUSE the lie that all Christians are hypocrites because some were cruel. IT IS WRITTEN that God will deal with all who afflicted me and gather those who were driven out. Religious judgment is NOT Jesus. Gossip is NOT the Gospel. I will not let wounded people's weapons keep me from the body of Christ. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in the city and in the field, the BARAK blessing protects me. God is appointing me for PRAISE in the very places I was shamed. I am safe in HIS presence, and He's leading me to safe people.
The Father is gathering the wounded ones—the judged, the gossiped-about, the excluded—and creating TRUE family. He's running toward you with the names and faces of people who will love you WITHOUT CONDITIONS, who've been hurt too and learned real grace. You're not broken for leaving toxic religion; you're WISE.
