"Building retirement plans is foolish because Jesus is coming back any day now"
How it sounds in your head: Why save for retirement when the rapture could happen tomorrow? Financial advisors say plan ahead, but preachers say Jesus is coming. If I plan too much, does that mean I don't really believe He's returning?
"A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous."
-- Proverbs 13:22False dichotomy between faith in Christ's return and wisdom in stewardship, creating financial paralysis.
Decades of 'any moment now' sermons make planning feel like lack of faith, yet Social Security isn't enough and fear of poverty is real. She's caught between two conflicting voices, both claiming biblical authority.
Knowing famine was coming, Joseph didn't say 'God will provide, no need to plan.' He stored grain for SEVEN YEARS in advance. His planning saved nations. Stewardship and faith coexist, and God promoted the planner to second-in-command.
I REFUSE the lie that planning for my future contradicts faith in Christ's return. IT IS WRITTEN that a good person leaves an inheritance to grandchildren—that requires PLANNING. I am Abraham's seed; the BARAK makes me the lender, not borrower, the head, not the tail. IT IS WRITTEN that the wealth of the sinner is stored up for ME, the righteous. I steward resources with wisdom, not fear or presumption. Whether Jesus returns tomorrow or I live to 100, I am COVERED. My retirement is blessed because I am IN Him, and the Father commands blessing on my storehouses. I plan with peace, not anxiety.
The Father isn't testing your faith by demanding financial recklessness—He's inviting you to steward with PEACE, knowing He's already provided for every scenario. While religion creates false choices, He's running toward you with the wisdom of Joseph and the provision of Abraham.
