"Believing in hell makes God a monster. A loving God wouldn't torture people eternally."
How it sounds in your head: He's read the arguments: infinite punishment for finite sin is unjust. A God who creates people knowing they'll end up in hell is sadistic. Either God isn't all-loving or hell isn't real—and questioning hell feels like the first domino that topples everything else.
"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."
-- 2 Peter 3:9Enemy: uses human sentimentality to erase divine justice, making God's love and holiness incompatible instead of unified.
The hell he was taught—fire and brimstone forever for not praying a prayer—does sound disproportionate and cruel. Rejecting that version of hell feels like choosing compassion over cruelty.
Angels DRAGGED Lot and his family out of Sodom because God's mercy was urgent—'Escape for your life!' His wife looked back, longing for what God was judging, and became a pillar of salt. God's judgment is real, but His rescue effort came FIRST.
I REFUSE the lie that hell proves God is unloving. IT IS WRITTEN: God is not willing that ANY should perish—hell breaks His heart. Angels dragged Lot out of Sodom because God's mercy is URGENT, but Lot's wife looked back and faced judgment. Hell is the consequence of rejecting rescue, not God's first choice. IT IS WRITTEN: Jesus wept over Jerusalem's rejection—He WANTED to gather them, but they refused. God doesn't send people to hell; He sent His Son to PREVENT it. I am Abraham's seed, the BARAK blessing includes being rescued from the curse. Jesus became the curse so I wouldn't have to. God's love and justice aren't enemies—they met at the cross. Hell is real, and so is His relentless pursuit to save people from it.
The Father didn't create hell for people—He created the cross to rescue people FROM hell. He's not gleefully condemning; He's desperately pursuing, and hell is what happens when people finally, fully reject the Lover of their souls.
