"Being single means I failed at being a woman since women are supposed to be wives and mothers."
How it sounds in your head: You watched your purpose fulfilled in other women—babies, families, the whole design. That's what women are FOR, and you never got to do it. You weren't barren like Hannah who eventually got Samuel. You just never even got picked to try. Somewhere along the way, you failed at the fundamental assignment of womanhood.
"For thus says the LORD: 'To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, and choose what pleases Me, and hold fast My covenant, even to them I will give in My house and within My walls a place and a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off.'"
-- Isaiah 56:4-5Religion: Teaching that God's design for women is exclusively marriage and motherhood, making singleness a deviation from purpose.
Every sermon, every Mother's Day, every baby shower reinforced that women find identity in family roles. At 90+, she never occupied the roles her church celebrated, making her feel like a failed prototype.
She was a wife, but her identity was JUDGE and PROPHET over all Israel. When the military commander Barak refused to go to battle without her, she went—and led the nation to victory. Her womanhood wasn't limited to her marriage; she led armies, judged disputes, and wrote Scripture. Purpose transcends marital status.
I REFUSE the lie that I failed at womanhood or that my purpose was limited to marriage and motherhood. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives those without children a name BETTER than sons and daughters, an everlasting name that cannot be cut off. I didn't fail—I succeeded at a HIGHER calling. IT IS WRITTEN that in Christ there is neither male nor female, and my identity is not in earthly roles but in being a daughter of the King. I am blessed by the Abrahamic covenant, and the barak doesn't require a husband or children. I fulfilled my purpose by loving God with my whole heart, and my name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life in PERMANENT INK. I am not a failed woman—I am a VICTORIOUS BRIDE.
The Father says: 'Failed? You succeeded where most stumble. You loved ME first, without competition, without distraction. Mothers are honored on earth for nine months of work; you'll be honored in eternity for a lifetime of undivided devotion. You didn't miss your purpose. You NAILED it. And the reward for those who keep their eyes on Me? Better than any earthly family could provide. Well done, daughter.'
