"You've drifted too far apart; the gap between who you are now is too wide to bridge."

How it sounds in your head: You've become completely different people. She went one direction, you went another. You have nothing in common anymore—different interests, values, friends, even faith levels. You're strangers living in the same house.

Ephesians 2:13-14

"But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation."

-- Ephesians 2:13-14
Enemy whispers: The gap is too wide. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Ephesians 2:13-14 - Christ 'has broken down the middle wall of separation' and 'made both ONE.' This was written about Jews and Gentiles—CENTURIES of separation, hatred, different laws, cultures, diets, and worship. If Christ can make THAT one, your different interests are NOTHING. IT IS WRITTEN in Matthew 19:6, 'What God has joined together, let not man separate.' GOD JOINED YOU. The drift doesn't change the joining. He is the THIRD STRAND (Ecclesiastes 4:12) that makes you one regardless of how different you've become.
Quick Truth: LIE: Too different now. TRUTH: Christ breaks ALL separation walls, makes diverse people ONE. Ephesians 2:14—unity in Him, not similarity.

Enemy deception that growth creates incompatibility rather than opportunity for greater unity in diversity.

Why this feels true:

Conversations feel forced because you genuinely don't share interests anymore, and the person you married 25 years ago bears little resemblance to who she is now. Empty nest has revealed how little you actually have in common when kids aren't the center.

Acts 18:2-3, 24-26
Aquila and Priscilla

This couple are ALWAYS mentioned together across multiple cities and decades—tentmakers who taught Apollos, hosted church, risked their necks for Paul. Different from each other? Undoubtedly. But their UNITY IN CHRIST made them a force that shaped the early church and is remembered 2000 years later.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that differences create incompatibility. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ has broken down EVERY wall of separation and made us ONE—not similar, ONE. Our unity is not based on shared hobbies but on shared LIFE in Christ. IT IS WRITTEN in John 17:21 that Jesus prayed we would be ONE as He and the Father are one—and the Father and Son have VERY different roles yet perfect unity. Difference is not the problem; DISCONNECTION from the Vine is. We are both branches in the SAME VINE, and that connection creates supernatural unity beyond natural compatibility. The BARAK blessing flows through covenant, not compatibility. I declare divine convergence, supernatural common ground, and a THIRD STRAND that makes us stronger together than we ever were similar. This is FINISHED WORK being manifested NOW.

But God actually:

The Father isn't wringing His hands over your differences—He's already positioned Himself as the Third Strand that makes you exponentially stronger, and He's revealing common ground you couldn't see because you were looking at each other instead of both looking at Him. Look up, and unity comes.
