"You're a burden to everyone around you - they'd be better off without you."
How it sounds in your head: Your parents are tired of your mood swings. Your friends are tired of you canceling plans. Your girlfriend is tired of reassuring you. You can see it in their eyes - the exhaustion, the frustration. You're a drain on everyone's energy. They're just too nice to say they wish you'd go away.
"The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17Enemy lie assigning negative value to your existence, twisting love into obligation and presence into burden.
You've needed a lot of support lately. You've seen people sigh when you bring up your struggles again. You feel like you're always the problem, never the solution, and it seems like everyone would have more peace if you just weren't there.
Mephibosheth was disabled, from a fallen family, hiding in obscurity expecting judgment. King David sought him out, restored EVERYTHING, brought him to eat at the king's table for life - not because of what he could offer, but because of covenant. Mephibosheth called himself a 'dead dog,' but David called him family.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm a burden to the people who love me. IT IS WRITTEN that God REJOICES over me with singing - I'm not endured, I'm DELIGHTED in. The same King who sought out disabled Mephibosheth and seated him at the royal table seeks me, values me, celebrates me exactly as I am. My struggle doesn't decrease my worth. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, that God's thoughts toward me outnumber the sand - I am not a burden, I am a beloved son. The BARAK blessing declares I am the head and not the tail - I'm not bottom tier, I'm covenant royalty, and my presence is a blessing not a curse.
The Father doesn't sigh in exhaustion when you come to Him again - He sings. He doesn't see you as a drain; He sees you as His prize. Just like David sought out Mephibosheth who had nothing to offer and made him family, the Father pursues you in your struggle and calls you His joy.
