"Your lack of career success proves God didn't favor you like He did other men."
How it sounds in your head: Your friends from high school run companies. You changed jobs too many times, never made it to the C-suite, retired without the title or salary you dreamed of. You look at men God 'really blessed' and wonder why He passed you over.
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."
-- Jeremiah 29:11Source: World system that equates career success with God's approval; prosperity gospel in reverse that assumes failure means disfavor.
Society measures men by titles and salaries. You don't have impressive business cards to hand out. Reunions feel like failure conventions. Your retirement income is modest. You feel like a supporting character in everyone else's success story.
Joseph was a carpenter in a nothing town. No wealth. No status. No impressive resume. God chose HIM to raise the Messiah. The most important assignment in human history went to a blue-collar worker from Nazareth.
I REFUSE the lie that career success measures God's favor. IT IS WRITTEN that God's thoughts toward me are peace, future, and hope (Jeremiah 29:11). My worth isn't in titles or income. IT IS WRITTEN that I am chosen, a royal priesthood, a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9). The BARAK blessing includes being the HEAD not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13), and that's about IDENTITY, not corporate ladders. I am Abraham's seed. God's favor on me is based on COVENANT, not career.
The Father isn't impressed by corner offices. He gave the assignment of raising His Son to a carpenter. Your value to Him has nothing to do with LinkedIn endorsements. He's proud of you because you're HIS, not because you climbed corporate ladders.
