"Your body is failing. You're disgusting. No one wants to see or touch you anymore."
How it sounds in your head: Skin sagging, liver spots, scars, weakness. They have to clean you, change you. You see disgust in their eyes, or worse—pity. You used to be strong, handsome. Now you're repulsive.
"The LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
-- 1 Samuel 16:7World's lie that human dignity and value are tied to physical appearance and capability.
Every glance in the mirror screams decay. Needing intimate physical help feels humiliating. You see your body failing and assume everyone else sees only ugliness.
Ten lepers stood at a distance, bodies rotting, considered unclean and untouchable. They cried out to Jesus. He didn't recoil—He SPOKE to them, and as they went, they were INSTANTLY cleansed. Their disgusting, failing bodies were made whole in a moment. Jesus saw PEOPLE, not disease.
I REFUSE the lie that my failing body makes me disgusting or unworthy of love. IT IS WRITTEN that man looks at outward appearance but God looks at the HEART, and He sees me as BELOVED. This body is temporary; my spirit is ETERNAL and beautiful. Jesus touched lepers, washed dirty feet, and is NOT repulsed by weakness. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and nothing about my physical state changes my worth to God. I am His MASTERPIECE, and my dignity is INHERENT, not earned by appearance.
The Father looks at you with DELIGHT, not disgust. Like the prodigal covered in pig filth, the Father RAN to embrace him BEFORE he cleaned up. Your body's condition does not determine His love—He sees you as His BELOVED son, and He's preparing a GLORIFIED body for you that will never age, fail, or decay.
