"Young pastors and leaders don't respect elders like they used to."
How it sounds in your head: I see it in church—everything is for the young. The music is too loud, the sermons are shallow, the programs ignore people my age. They want my money but not my input. I'm invisible.
"You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the Lord."
-- Leviticus 19:32Enemy's offense strategy; religious spirit of Absalom stealing honor; cultural youth-worship infiltrating church.
Church culture HAS shifted toward youth-focused programming, and elder voices ARE often marginalized. The visible evidence supports the feeling of being sidelined.
Eli was old and his eyes were dim, and his sons had corrupted the priesthood. Yet God chose to speak to young Samuel THROUGH Eli's authority. The elder's voice activated the prophetic in the young, even in failure.
I REFUSE the lie that I need their recognition to be honorable. IT IS WRITTEN: 'You shall RISE before the gray headed and HONOR the presence of an old man'—this is GOD'S command, not man's option. IT IS WRITTEN: My grey hair is a crown of GLORY. Their dishonor is between THEM and God—my honor is between ME and God. I am Eli—even in weakness, my voice ACTIVATES the prophetic in the young. The BARAK blessing doesn't require validation. I decree: I am HONORABLE because God says so.
The Father isn't waiting for young leaders to recognize you—He's already crowned you with GLORY. Like Eli whose voice activated Samuel's prophetic call, your authority is positional, not earned by recognition.
