"You were just a volunteer number to them—they never actually cared about you."
How it sounds in your head: They needed your skills so they love-bombed you with 'you're so gifted' and 'we need you,' but the second you set a boundary or couldn't serve, the texts stopped. They wanted your labor, not your heart. You were useful until you weren't, then they moved on to the next eager volunteer without a second thought.
"No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary."
-- 1 Corinthians 12:22Source: Religious system that values production over people, weaponized by the enemy to make you feel disposable and prevent you from serving with your gifts again.
You can point to exact dates when the communication stopped—when you said you needed a break, when you missed one service, when you asked for support instead of just giving it. They replaced you in the role within a week and never checked on you again. The silence is deafening proof.
Onesimus was literally a SLAVE, seen as property and used for labor with zero value placed on his personhood. Paul encountered him and sent him back NOT as a slave but as a 'beloved brother'—instant upgrade from disposable worker to family, worth more than any service he could provide.
I REFUSE the lie that I was just a volunteer number used by the church machine. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a NECESSARY member of the Body, and even when leadership failed to see my value, God was recording every sacrifice. I am NOT disposable. I am NOT replaceable. My gifts are unique expressions of the image of God and NO SYSTEM can reduce my worth. IT IS WRITTEN that God places members in the Body as He sees fit, and my positioning comes from HIM, not from who noticed me. The Barak blessing makes me the HEAD and not the tail even when I was treated like the tail.
The Father watched every hour you served while running on empty, every time you said yes when your heart screamed no, and He's running toward you NOW saying 'You don't have to earn love here—you already have Mine.' He's prepared a place where your NO is respected and your YES is celebrated, not exploited.
