"You need to fix yourself and get your life together before God can really use you for anything significant."
How it sounds in your head: You see your mess—the porn habit, the anger issues, the inconsistent quiet times, the double life. You think once you finally get disciplined and consistent, THEN God can use you.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Source: Religion's performance treadmill that makes anointing contingent on personal perfection and behavior modification.
You hear sermons about holiness and discipline and feel like you're perpetually disqualified because you can't seem to get it together for more than a few days at a time.
Moses was a murderer, fugitive, and stutterer with anger issues who argued with God at the burning bush. God didn't say 'get counseling first'—He said 'I AM SENDING YOU NOW' and used him to deliver a nation while still having those issues.
I REFUSE the lie that God is waiting for me to fix myself before He can use me powerfully. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was STILL a sinner, Christ died for me—which means His love and calling aren't contingent on my behavior modification. God uses broken vessels on purpose so the glory goes to Him, not my strength. IT IS WRITTEN that His power is made perfect in my WEAKNESS, not in my achievement of perfect discipline. I am not a project to be fixed before deployment; I am a son sent into battle WITH my Father who fights through me. The BARAK blessing flowed through LIARS, DECEIVERS, and MURDERERS because it was never about their performance—it's about COVENANT. I am righteous by GIFT, not by accomplishment, and anointed by GRACE, not by getting it together.
Your Father isn't waiting in heaven with a checklist watching you fail—He's running toward you RIGHT NOW in your mess, robe and ring in hand, ready to use you WHILE you're still smelling like the pig pen. He uses the unqualified on purpose.
