"You must be living in hidden sin if you're not getting healed; God won't heal the disobedient."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe the reason I'm still sick is because there's some sin I haven't confessed or something I'm doing wrong that I don't even know about. I feel like God is withholding healing until I get my act together and figure out what I'm doing that's blocking it.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Source: Religion making healing conditional on perfect obedience, creating works-righteousness and condemnation disguised as holiness.
He's heard teachings connecting sickness to sin and feels guilty about his failures, so it seems logical that fixing his behavior would unlock healing. It gives him something to control when healing feels out of reach.
This woman was literally CAUGHT in the act of adultery—there was no question about her sin, she was guilty and about to be stoned. Jesus didn't make her clean up her life first; He said 'Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more'—INSTANT forgiveness and freedom while she was still standing there guilty, no process, no probation.
I REFUSE the lie that God is withholding healing because of hidden sin. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was STILL A SINNER, Christ died for me—He didn't wait for perfection, and He doesn't withhold healing based on my behavior. My healing was purchased at the cross BEFORE I was born, BEFORE I sinned, by the blood of Jesus. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NOW no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—NONE, not even when I mess up. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK protected Abraham even when he LIED—it's not based on my perfection but on God's COVENANT. I receive healing NOW as a GIFT, not a reward for good behavior.
The Father isn't digging through your life looking for hidden sins to punish—He's running toward you with the same radical grace that healed the adulteress without a lecture. He's not keeping a scorecard; He's keeping His promise to never leave you or condemn you.
