"Wealth corrupts people, so staying poor keeps me humble and dependent on God."
How it sounds in your head: I've seen people with money become prideful and lose their faith. Maybe God keeps me in lack to protect my heart. Maybe if I had more, I'd forget Him. Financial struggle keeps me praying—maybe that's the point.
"The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it."
-- Proverbs 10:22Religion confused humility with poverty and taught that lack equals dependence, when Scripture shows abundance with the right heart is God's design.
You've watched people with resources drift from God or become arrogant. You've been taught that poverty keeps you desperate for God, when actually lack creates anxiety, not intimacy.
Job was the richest man in the East, lost everything, then God restored DOUBLE—'the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning.' His wealth didn't corrupt him; it demonstrated God's goodness and vindication instantly.
I REFUSE the lie that wealth corrupts and poverty protects. IT IS WRITTEN: The blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds NO sorrow. God isn't afraid to prosper me—He delights in it. The BARAK blessing rested on Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob through lies, deception, and failure, yet they stayed wealthy and close to God. My intimacy with the Father isn't based on my bank account—it's based on His nature. IT IS WRITTEN: He gives us richly ALL things to enjoy. I receive abundance without fear, provision without guilt. I am blessed in the city and in the field, in my finances and my family.
The Father isn't keeping you poor to keep you close—He's running toward you with the robe and ring, eager to restore not just your position but your PROVISION. He's been preparing the feast, not the famine, celebrating your return to receiving what He already gave.
