"Wanting abundance means I don't really trust God to provide just what I need."
How it sounds in your head: If I really trusted God, wouldn't I be okay with 'just enough'? Wanting MORE feels like I'm doubting He'll take care of me. Like I'm trying to control things instead of having faith. Maybe wanting abundance is actually a trust issue.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Source: Religion twisting 'daily bread' into a maximum instead of a minimum and calling ambition a faith problem.
You've heard 'seek first the kingdom' used to mean 'don't care about money,' and testimonies about God providing 'just in time' make it sound like wanting AHEAD-of-time provision means you don't trust. Desiring surplus feels like doubt.
The widow needed enough oil to pay one debt, but Elisha told her to gather MANY jars. Oil flowed until she ran out of containers—God gave surplus BEYOND the immediate need, enough to pay the debt AND live on the rest. Instant abundance, not just-enough provision.
I REFUSE the lie that wanting abundance means I don't trust God. IT IS WRITTEN that He does exceedingly abundantly ABOVE all I ask or think. Trusting Him means EXPECTING overflow because that's His nature. I am Abraham's seed under the BARAK blessing of surplus to lend to nations. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to give ABUNDANT life, not barely-enough life. I ask BIG, believe BIG, and receive BIG because my Father is not stingy—He is LAVISH, and His glory is revealed in my overflow.
The Father didn't give the prodigal a small mercy—He gave EXTRAVAGANT grace. Best robe (expensive), ring (authority), sandals (sonship), fattened calf (celebration). That's not 'just enough.' That's ABUNDANCE. Your Father doesn't do minimums; He does MAXIMUMS because that's His heart.
