"Waiting on God is just spiritual language for doing nothing and being irresponsible."
How it sounds in your head: My mom says I'm being lazy, hiding behind 'waiting on God' instead of taking action. Maybe she's right. Maybe faith without works is dead means I need to force doors open instead of waiting for God to open them. Maybe I'm using faith as an excuse for fear.
"The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."
-- Exodus 14:14Religion conflates rest with laziness, making trust feel like irresponsibility and forcing feel like faith.
Well-meaning voices pressure her to 'do something,' making stillness feel like disobedience. The world rewards hustle, making waiting feel wasteful.
Jehoshaphat was outnumbered by THREE armies with no battle plan. God said stand still, sing, watch. They WORSHIPED and God made the enemies slaughter EACH OTHER—didn't lift a sword, spent 3 days gathering spoils.
I REFUSE the lie that waiting on God is irresponsible laziness. IT IS WRITTEN: the Lord will FIGHT for me while I hold my peace. Jehoshaphat worshiped and God destroyed three armies WITHOUT him. IT IS WRITTEN that in quietness and confidence is my strength—rest is warfare, not retreat. I am a BRANCH abiding in the VINE—my job is connection, not production. Fruit comes from ABIDING, not striving. I trust God's timing and refuse to force doors HE hasn't opened.
Your Father isn't calling you lazy for resting in Him—He's inviting you to the most powerful posture: trust. While you REST, He WORKS, and His work accomplishes more than your hustle ever could.
