"Trust is weakness. Strong people don't need anyone, and they never get hurt because they never depend on others."
How it sounds in your head: Every hero movie shows the lone wolf who doesn't need backup. Depending on people made you vulnerable. Real strength is independence—no attachments, no expectations, no disappointment. Be an island and you'll never drown.
"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up."
-- Ecclesiastes 4:9-10World + enemy: Cultural lie of toxic independence, twisting God's design for connection into a liability.
Culture worships the self-made man, the lone warrior, the 'I don't need anybody' mentality. Dependency DID lead to pain in your experience. At 14, you're hungry for models of strength, and the world shows you isolation disguised as power.
Elijah tried to go it alone after Jezebel threatened him, saying 'I alone am left.' He spiraled into suicidal depression. God sent an angel to feed him, then sent him to Elisha as a companion, and revealed there were 7,000 others who hadn't bowed to Baal. God IMMEDIATELY broke his isolation with provision and community.
I REFUSE the lie that trust equals weakness. IT IS WRITTEN that two are better than one, and woe to the person alone when they fall—God designed me for CONNECTION, not isolation. Jesus Himself had close friends; strength isn't independence. I was created for community, for brotherhood, for carrying and being carried. IT IS WRITTEN that a threefold cord is not quickly broken. I am BARAK-blessed with covenant relationships that reflect the Trinity's community. I am strong BECAUSE I trust God and the people He brings.
The Father sees you trying to be an island, and He's not impressed by your independence—He's grieved by your isolation. He whispers, 'Son, I made you in the image of the TRINITY. Even We do life in community. Come back to connection.'
