"Tithing is Old Testament law—Jesus freed us from that requirement."
How it sounds in your head: You're under grace, not law. Tithing was for Israel's theocracy, not the church. Legalistic churches guilt you into 10% when Jesus just wants a cheerful heart. Don't let religion manipulate you.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone."
-- Matthew 23:23Source: Enemy twisting grace into license. Religion created the bondage, now enemy uses freedom as excuse for disobedience.
You've read Galatians and know you're not under law. Preachers who push tithing sound exactly like the Pharisees Jesus rebuked. The New Testament doesn't explicitly command 10%.
Abraham gave a tenth of everything to Melchizedek 430 years before the Law existed—this was relationship and honor, not obligation. Immediately after, God appeared and said 'I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.'
I REFUSE the lie that grace cancels generosity. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus affirmed tithing while calling for greater heart transformation. I don't tithe because I'm under law—I tithe because I'm Abraham's seed under the BARAK blessing, and Abraham honored God with the first tenth before any commandment existed. My generosity isn't works; it's worship. IT IS WRITTEN in Hebrews 7 that I give tithes to Jesus my eternal High Priest. I'm not manipulated—I'm liberated to give from abundance, not poverty. Grace didn't lower the standard; it raised my identity.
The Father isn't holding a calculator waiting for you to hit 10%—He's the One who gave His ONLY SON, and He's teaching you the joy of living with open hands. The tithe isn't the ceiling; it's the training wheels for the generosity Heaven operates in.
