"Tithing is Old Testament law, we're not under that anymore"
How it sounds in your head: My friend's dad says tithing is legalism and we're under grace now. That makes sense - Jesus fulfilled the law so we don't have to do religious rules anymore. Tithing was for Israel, not for me.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone."

She's heard about grace and freedom from the law, and mixing those concepts makes it sound spiritual to keep all her money. It feels like enlightened Christianity versus old religious bondage.
Abram gave tithe to Melchizedek 400 years BEFORE the law existed - it wasn't legal requirement but response to blessing. Immediately after, God appeared and said 'I am your shield, your EXCEEDINGLY GREAT REWARD' - his generosity unlocked greater revelation of God as provider.
I REFUSE the lie that grace means keeping everything for myself! IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus said I OUGHT to tithe without leaving it undone - He didn't cancel generosity, He elevated it to flowing from love not law. Abraham tithed before Moses, before rules, from pure response to God's goodness. I am his seed, and the BARAK blessing isn't earned by tithing but EXPRESSED through it - I give because I'm blessed, not to GET blessed. IT IS WRITTEN that I give and it shall be given to me, pressed down, shaken together, running over. New Covenant generosity is GREATER not lesser - I'm free TO give, not free FROM giving!
The Father isn't demanding your tithe as religious tax - He's inviting you into partnership where your generosity becomes the pipeline of His provision. You give not to obligate Him but because you're already convinced He's good, already certain the BARAK covers you, already confident His supply exceeds your need.
