"Tithing is Old Testament law that doesn't apply under grace."
How it sounds in your head: I've studied the Bible long enough to know tithing was Mosaic law for Israel. Jesus fulfilled the law, so these legalistic preachers are just trying to control people and fund their buildings. I'm too old to fall for guilt manipulation.
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."
-- Galatians 6:9Religious spirit twists grace truth to justify withholding, using theological knowledge as a shield against generosity rather than as a doorway to supernatural provision.
He's technically correct that the tithe was Mosaic law, and he's seen churches abuse giving teachings for decades. His intellectual understanding becomes a barrier to kingdom flow.
Abraham gave a tenth of everything to Melchizedek 430 years BEFORE the law of Moses, not from obligation but from revelation of blessing. This wasn't law—it was covenant response, and it positioned him for the BARAK that protects through generations.
I REFUSE the lie that grace exempts me from generosity. IT IS WRITTEN that I shall reap in due season if I do not grow weary in doing good. I am not under law—I am under the Abrahamic BARAK that flows through Christ. Abraham gave BEFORE the law because he understood covenant blessing. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:29 that if I am Christ's, I am Abraham's seed and heir according to promise. Grace doesn't reduce my giving—it liberates me to sow extravagantly, knowing the Father multiplies seed sown. I give not from obligation but from overflow of covenant relationship.
The Father isn't keeping a ledger of percentages—He's RUNNING toward you with abundance that makes 10% look stingy. Like the prodigal's father who didn't calculate what was owed but celebrated what was restored, He pours out blessing before you perform.
