"This sickness is God's way of humbling me before I meet Him face to face."
How it sounds in your head: I've been a proud man—successful in business, respected in the community, maybe too self-reliant. Now in my final season, bedridden and dependent, maybe God is breaking my pride before I stand before Him. The suffering is preparation, refinement. I need to submit to this process.
"He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil."
-- 1 John 3:8Religion: God as author of suffering; sickness as divine pedagogy; pain as proof of God's work.
Religion taught him God uses sickness to teach lessons. The timing—right before death—feels intentional. He's been taught that suffering produces character and God orchestrates hardship for growth.
After Satan (not God) afflicted Job with boils, loss, and torment, God RESTORED Job's health and gave him DOUBLE everything he lost—14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 oxen, 1,000 donkeys, plus ten more children. God's response to suffering was RESTORATION and MULTIPLICATION, not perpetuating pain for growth.
I REFUSE the lie that this sickness is God's tool to humble me. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 John 3:8 that Jesus was manifested to DESTROY the works of the devil—sickness is the devil's work, not God's curriculum. Acts 10:38 says Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by the devil. Job's affliction came from SATAN, and God's response was full RESTORATION and DOUBLE blessing. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb 13:8)—He's still the HEALER. I don't need sickness to prepare me for heaven; I need the RESURRECTION POWER that's already in me. I'm under the BARAK blessing—the same blessing that protected murderers and deceivers protects and HEALS me now.
Father didn't send sickness to prepare you for His presence—He sent JESUS to destroy sickness so you could enjoy His presence NOW. The prodigal didn't need to be beaten into humility; the Father RAN to him the moment he turned home.
