"This financial loss proves I don't have the business instincts or wisdom I thought I had."
How it sounds in your head: I made terrible decisions. Ignored red flags. Trusted the wrong people. My judgment is flawed. At my age I should have known better. I clearly don't have what it takes.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
-- James 1:5Enemy attack on identity and gifting through magnifying one season of poor outcomes into permanent incompetence.
Replaying every bad decision and missed warning sign makes your judgment feel fundamentally flawed. Watching the business unravel makes you question every instinct, especially when peers succeeded where you failed.
God gave Solomon wisdom, riches, and honor like no king before or after him. Later Solomon made TERRIBLE decisions—700 wives, 300 concubines, foreign gods, led Israel into idolatry. Yet he's STILL called the wisest man who ever lived—his failures didn't revoke his gifting.
I REFUSE the lie that this financial loss proves I don't have business instincts or wisdom. IT IS WRITTEN that if I lack wisdom, I can ask God who gives LIBERALLY and WITHOUT REPROACH—He doesn't shame my past while giving my future. Solomon made catastrophic decisions with 700 wives and foreign gods, and he's STILL called the wisest man. Moses murdered and fled, then led millions. One season of poor outcomes doesn't define my capacity or calling. IT IS WRITTEN that I have the MIND OF CHRIST, and the gifts in me are IRREVOCABLE. I am STILL gifted, STILL capable, STILL called, because my identity is in CHRIST, not in one business cycle.
The Father isn't holding your bad decisions against you while deciding whether to give you wisdom for the next season—He's already pouring it out liberally, without reproach, without shame, without lectures. He's running toward you with strategy, not a report card.
