"This disease is my thorn in the flesh like Paul had."
How it sounds in your head: You've read 2 Corinthians 12 a hundred times trying to make peace with feeling awful. If Paul had to live with his thorn, maybe you have to live with yours. Sounds humble. Sounds spiritual.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Source: Religion misidentifying Paul's thorn as sickness when the text says 'messenger of Satan to buffet me'—persecution context, not disease.
It's the go-to verse every well-meaning Christian throws at chronic conditions, and it gives you an excuse to stop fighting for healing. Removes the pressure of faith if you just accept it as God's mysterious plan.
Paul left him sick at Miletus—not because God willed it, but because healing hadn't manifested yet. Paul didn't theologize it into God's plan; he just stated the fact and kept preaching healing elsewhere.
I REFUSE the lie that my Father assigned me a disease to manage my pride. IT IS WRITTEN that God's will is health just as my soul prospers—3 John 1:2 doesn't say 'I pray you stay sick for character building.' Paul's thorn was PERSECUTION, a messenger of Satan he rebuked, not a sickness he embraced. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse, and Deuteronomy 28 lists disease IN THE CURSE SECTION, not the blessing. I am blessed coming in and going out, blessed in my body, the head and not the tail. My body bows to the Name above every name—cancer, diabetes, every diagnosis must bow. I stand in the BARAK covenant blessing, the same protection that covered Abraham when he LIED, and I'm in a BETTER covenant through Jesus' blood.
Your Father didn't plant disease in you to keep you dependent—He planted His SPIRIT in you to make you whole. He's not waiting for you to accept sickness; He's waiting for you to receive the healing He already provided at the whipping post.
