"This disease is my new normal. I just need to accept it and adjust my expectations."
How it sounds in your head: They told you to 'manage expectations,' to stop hoping for healing and start planning around limitations. Build your life around doctor appointments. Accept the new reality. Stop wishing for what used to be.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:5Religion disguised as wisdom—teaching you to partner with sickness instead of reject it, to accept the curse instead of claim the blessing.
Everyone says it: doctors, well-meaning friends, even Christians who quote 'accept what you cannot change.' It feels responsible, mature, realistic. Fighting feels exhausting and foolish when nothing has changed yet.
He'd been sick for thirty-eight years—longer than you, longer than anyone. If anyone had a 'new normal,' it was him. But Jesus asked, 'Do you WANT to be made well?' and in one command, thirty-eight years of sickness ended. IMMEDIATELY he was made well.
I REFUSE to call sickness my 'new normal.' My normal is HEALED because IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—finished at the cross. I don't accept what Jesus destroyed. I don't partner with what He cursed. IT IS WRITTEN that the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead dwells in me and gives LIFE to my mortal body. This body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and sickness is an illegal squatter with an eviction notice signed in blood. I walk in the BARAK blessing—the blessing that made Isaac so wealthy in a FAMINE that kings asked him to leave. Sickness is my famine, and I'm coming out RICHER.
The Father isn't asking you to accept sickness. He's asking, 'Do you WANT to be made well?' because He's already paid for your healing and He's ready to release it the moment you stop agreeing with the diagnosis and start agreeing with the cross.
