"They worked smarter. I made poor choices and now I'm paying for it."
How it sounds in your head: You replay the bad investments, the business that failed, the job you should have taken. They made smart moves and you made dumb ones. This financial stress is the consequence of your poor decisions. You're reaping what you sowed.
"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
-- Isaiah 43:18-19Religious karma theology disguised as biblical sowing/reaping, making current lack divine punishment for past mistakes.
Your financial history has real failures you can point to. The cause-and-effect seems obvious: bad decisions then equal financial struggle now. Seems like simple justice.
Abraham lied to kings TWICE about Sarah being his sister to save his own skin. God didn't punish Abraham—He plagued the kings and sent Abraham away RICHER both times. Bad decisions, instant protection and provision anyway.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm paying for past financial mistakes. IT IS WRITTEN that God tells me not to remember former things because He's doing a NEW thing NOW. My Father isn't an accountant tallying my bad decisions; He's the Father who restored the prodigal instantly. The BARAK blessing made Abraham richer after he LIED and made Jacob wealthy after he DECEIVED. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for me in Christ. My financial breakthrough isn't blocked by past choices; it flows from present covenant. God makes roads in my wilderness and rivers in my desert. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and my provision comes from HIS nature, not my history.
Your Father isn't reviewing your financial report card. He's running toward you with the fattened calf while you're still rehearsing apologies for that failed business—He's already commanded blessing on your storehouses, past mistakes be damned.
