"These nightmares and night terrors prove I'm under spiritual attack that won't stop."
How it sounds in your head: Every night it's the same darkness, the same oppressive feeling. I wake up unable to move, sensing something in the room. This has to be demonic. I've prayed, but it keeps happening, which means either my prayers don't work or the demons are stronger.
"You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day."
-- Psalm 91:5Source: Enemy exploits natural sleep phenomena and fear to make you believe you're under constant siege instead of resting in supernatural protection.
The physical sensations are real—the paralysis, the fear, the feeling of presence. He's never experienced anything this intense before, and nothing he tries seems to stop it, making him feel powerless.
Peter was chained between two soldiers, in maximum security, scheduled for execution the NEXT MORNING—yet verse 6 says he was SLEEPING so soundly that the angel had to STRIKE him to wake him up. In the face of literal death, in the middle of enemy territory, Peter slept like a baby because he knew Whose he was.
I REFUSE the lie that nightmares prove I'm under unstoppable attack. IT IS WRITTEN that I shall not be afraid of the terror by night. The Lord is my refuge and fortress—no plague comes near my dwelling. My sleep is SWEET because God gives His beloved sleep. IT IS WRITTEN that angels encamp around me, and no weapon formed against me prospers—not even in dreams. The BARAK blessing that protected Jacob when Laban chased him, that gave him dreams of angels ascending and descending, covers my sleep. I lie down in peace and sleep, for the Lord ALONE makes me dwell in safety. My nights are PROTECTED.
The Father isn't allowing the enemy to torment your nights to teach you something—He's given you authority to command peace over your sleep. Like Peter sleeping soundly between executioners, your rest isn't based on circumstances but on WHOSE you are—and He never sleeps nor slumbers watching over you.
