"These nightmares and night terrors mean demons are attacking me while I sleep."
How it sounds in your head: I wake up terrified and can't move. Something dark was in my room. I'm afraid to go to sleep because they come at night when I'm defenseless.
"I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety."
-- Psalm 4:8Source: Enemy exploiting normal sleep phenomena (night terrors, sleep paralysis) combined with fear-based teaching about nocturnal vulnerability.
The physical sensations and vivid fear feel supernatural. He's been taught that nighttime is when demons are most active and believers are vulnerable.
The servant woke up terrified seeing an enemy army surrounding them. Elisha prayed and God opened the servant's eyes to see the mountain FULL of horses and chariots of fire—the angelic protection that was there ALL ALONG.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm defenseless at night. IT IS WRITTEN that I will lie down in peace and sleep, for God alone makes me dwell in safety. He who keeps me NEVER slumbers or sleeps. IT IS WRITTEN that He will cover me with His feathers and under His wings I take refuge. I am surrounded by angels of fire, protected by the blood of Jesus, and covered by the BARAK blessing. No nightmare has authority over me. I am safe in the Father's arms, awake or asleep.
The Father doesn't go off-duty when you sleep—He's watching over you with armies of angels you can't see. He's running toward you saying 'You're safe in My arms, night and day.'
