"The stock market proved the world is unstable—I should have invested in heaven, not earth."
How it sounds in your head: Jesus said don't store treasures on earth. You should have given it all away to missions and ministries. This loss is proof you had the wrong priorities. You should have been focused on eternal rewards, not earthly wealth. Too late now.
"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."
-- Deuteronomy 8:18Religious misuse of Matthew 6:19-20 to condemn earthly provision and create false dichotomy.
The verse about laying up treasures in heaven is real, and the market crash feels like proof that earthly investments are foolish. At end of life, eternal perspective dominates, and she fears she wasted her final years on the wrong kingdom.
Genesis 13:2 says 'Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.' God called him out of Ur to BLESS him materially. His earthly wealth was part of the COVENANT, not a distraction from it. God blessed him financially AND spiritually—no dichotomy.
I REFUSE the lie that earthly wealth was the wrong priority. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives power to get wealth to ESTABLISH His covenant. The barak blessing is both spiritual AND material—Abraham was rich, Job was wealthy, Solomon overflowed. I don't have to choose between heaven and earth; my Father provides BOTH. IT IS WRITTEN that He wishes I prosper in ALL things. The market crash wasn't proof of wrong priorities; it was the enemy stealing covenant provision. I declare that my Father restores double and multiplies what was stolen. I am not carnal for having earthly wealth; I am a covenant daughter walking in the barak that blesses me in EVERY area—spirit, soul, body, and FINANCES. My investments weren't wasted; they're SEED my Father multiplies.
Your Father doesn't see earthly provision and heaven as opposites—He's the God of BOTH/AND. Abraham was rich and God's friend. Solomon was the wealthiest king and the wisest. The prodigal got the ring, robe, sandals, AND the party. Your Father isn't mad you invested on earth; He's the God who gives seed to sowers and multiplies it. He's already preparing the restoration that funds kingdom assignments.
