"The real me is unlovable. I've hidden myself for 90 years."
How it sounds in your head: You've worn masks your whole life—the strong provider, the man with answers, the one who has it together. Nobody knows the fear, the doubt, the shame, the secrets. If they saw the REAL you—the broken, scared, failing man—they'd leave. You'll die without ever being truly known.
"O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways."
-- Psalm 139:1-3Enemy convinced him authentic self is toxic, building a prison of isolation where he's surrounded by people but known by none.
He's got secrets nobody knows—the affair, the addiction, the financial lie, the fear, the doubt. He's spent decades managing his image. The mask feels safer than the face beneath it.
David—adulterer, murderer, liar—was confronted by God through Nathan. David's response: 'I have sinned.' God's immediate response: 'The Lord has taken away your sin.' Known fully, loved completely. Called 'a man after God's own heart' AFTER the affair and murder.
I REFUSE the lie that the real me is unlovable. IT IS WRITTEN that God has searched me and KNOWN me—He knows every secret, every failure, every mask I've worn, every shame I've hidden—and He calls me BELOVED anyway. I don't have to hide anymore. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for me in Christ Jesus—not 'some,' not 'for the big stuff,' but NONE. The real me—broken, scared, failing—is the one Jesus died for. I am fully known and fully loved.
The Father isn't waiting for you to finally be authentic before He loves you—He's been loving the REAL you underneath the mask your whole life. Every secret you thought would disqualify you, He already knew and already covered with blood. You don't have to die hiding. You can take off the mask NOW. He's not shocked. He's saying, 'THERE you are. I've been waiting for you.'
